Wild Fires in San Diego County

San Diego County Wild fires2003 and 2007 brought major wildfires to San Diego County. The 2003 fire, known as the Cedar Fire, caused the deaths of fifteen people, burned 2,232 homes and hundreds of thousands of acres. In 2007 two fires burned simultaneously in San Diego County. The largest, the Witch Creek fire, burned in the north and north east. The Harris fire burned north west from the U.S.A.-Mexico border. The Witch Creek and Harris fires caused the deaths of 7 people and the loss of 1,246 homes. Both fires resulted in massive evacuations.

The Cedar Fire burned hundreds of homes in Scripps Ranch, a San Diego community, Julian, Lakeside, Aipine, and Crest.

The Witch Creek fire hit Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, Poway and Escondido badly. Because the fire was fanned by powerful winds, Rancho Santa Fe also suffered some damage and evacuations were even ordered for Del Mar and Scripps Ranch.

Why Poolside Portable Pumps?

Sadly, these fires are unlikely to be the last in San Diego. Heavy winter rainfall will cause the regrowth of brush which will, in turn, provides vast amounts of fuel for the next San Diego fire.

Poolside Portable Pumps was formed so that San Diego home owners can be more proactive in saving their homes. Of course,it is imperative that homeowners evacuate when advised to do so, but using one of our powerful pumps to take water from a swimming pool and hose down a home and yard, with either water or water and barricade gel, prior to evecuating, may increase the chance of a home surviving a fire storm.

PSan Diego ool side pump Rancho BernardoLosing a home is almost guaranteed to be a terribly stressful experience. Not only does the loss mean the destruction of precious items steeped in memories, but victims also have to locate and move into rented accommodation during an, often, lengthy rebuild. Add to that the strain of trying to come to an agreement with an insurance company, and you will quickly realize that a relatively small investment in one of our pool side pumps, could be well worth the cost. Of course, owning a pump will not guarantee that your property will be saved, but sensible fire preparedness, to water down and foam your structure with fire retardent (barrier gel or foam) prior to evacuation, will help in fire prevention.

All our pumps come with a yard sign showing you have a high pressure and volume pump poolside so firefighters know they can activate them. Also, remember that during a fire the size of those described above, water pressure at the fire hydrants can be depleted, which means that the fire department has fire fighting equipment, but they need another source of water.
