Bart originally created the home fire pump cart system after the 2003 fires that badly impacted San Diego North County. As the owner of a successful contracting business Bart knew, first hand, the devastation that the 2003 fires had caused to homes, buildings and other property. As he traveled from home to home surveying the fire damage, it occurred to him that many of the properties that had been burnt had a beautiful swimming pool in their back yard. This set him thinking about how this water could be harnessed to help home owners prepare their properties when subject to the threat of wild fire.

Bart realized that homeowners needed some form of powerful pump that could take water from the swimming pool, combine it with a barricade gel or foam and spray their property before the onset of a wild fire. He knew that the pump needed to be both portable, easy to store, and easy to use. The end result was Poolside Portable Pumps' home fire pump systems.
